Description

There are various aspects that make the site of the old Lucano cinema a singularly interesting space for an architect. On the one hand, its complex geometry, common in the parcel of the historic center of Córdoba, a rich palimpsest of cultures and ways of living. On the other hand, its opening to two streets, Lucano and San Fernando, to the latter through a narrow passage.Equally attractive is its location in an urban fabric made up of large dense blocks pierced by patios of different character, but always on a scale very close to the domestic. In a type of building such as the Health Center, the necessary response to the nature of its environment must be combined with strict respect for the strict requirements of the program. The first objective has been to generate a varied sequence of urban spaces inside the site, which, linked by an interior passageway, make it possible to relate the entrance through Lucano Street with that of San Fernando Street. The presence of the archaeological remains that have to be valued gives more relevance to this argument, since the visitor will not only walk through the ground floor of the site in the direction of access to the Health Center but also to find a haven for contemplation and interpretation of the ruins.(Description provided by the architects)
