Description

Miraflores Park occupies the interior of the homonymous meander on the left bank of the Guadalquivir. The risk of flooding lead to a staggering solution towards the riverbed. Successive walls delimit  a series of walkways at different heights. The main one  is resolved by irregular flower beds and plant grids. The park is completely designed (plant elements, ponds, furniture and small auxiliary buildings). Various sculptural pieces by Agustín Ibarrola and Equipo 57 complete the park's undoubted interest, highlighting the monumental piece by Equipo 57 “Shalam”.The famous "wall" built in the early years of the 20th century to defend the City against the flooding was a border between the river channel and that sector of the city. The opportunity to save this circumstance lead the author to this solution based in the idea that the border becomes a public space. Its execution ended in 2003 but subsequent modifications for the project of the Córdoba Congress Center transformed part of its original design.( Description by Francisco Daroca Bruño )
