Pocket Plaza on Yongjia Road
public spaces, urban regeneration
This project transforms a site previously occupied by residential buildings in poor condition into a much-needed public space for the neighborhood. The perimeter of the rectangular space of the site, 18 x 40 m, is defined by a gallery that provides a shaded space where you can sit and rest. The surface of the small square is situated at a slightly elevated level above street level and in its center there is an adjustable fountain, which refreshes the space and helps control activities. The color and materials chosen respond to the desire of the designers that the performance be integrated into the urban landscape in a harmonious way, thus facilitating the appropriation of the space by the neighbors.
