Description
The celebrated Ciutat Vella plan of uses in Barcelona has been designed to respond to the growing problem of the touristification of the historic center of the city. The objective is to generate a tool that allows the city to be put back at the service of the common good, making commercial and tourist uses compatible with the daily life of the neighborhood's residents. The project is based on the implementation of a digital tool that allows a constant update of the analyzed parameters. Thanks to new technologies related to Big Data, it is possible to incorporate data from existing databases and urban sensors combined with the participation of the citizens of the area. This massive contribution of data allows for a detailed diagnosis of the district by tracing relationships between the different indicators analyzed. Among the parameters analyzed are activity licenses, cadastral data, rental prices of premises, credit card consumption, citizen complaints on the city council channel, etc. Thanks to digital tools, the plan makes it possible to generate changing scenarios, regulating uses according to the evolution of the district.
