Description

0. The proposal does not stem from a revision of the traditional housing block, but from its design as an open block with a minimum bay width and through-holes. A LINEAR, THERMAL BLOCK FORMING A CITY BLOCK1. The building folds in on itself to create a permeable band that adheres strictly to the boundaries of the plot and considers the regulatory conditions as a part of the project.2. This MINIMUM WIDTH creates an inner courtyard of considerable dimensions, A PUBLIC SPACE AT THE HEART OF THE PROJECT.3. THE PUBLIC SPACE THUS BECOMES SEMI-OPEN AND CONNECTED TO THE EXPANSION AREA, boldly assuming an ambiguous interior-exterior condition and the connection between the different topographic levels.4. That concave island, cleared and transformed into a forest, is visually connected to the city through the multiple and carefully placed through-holes, which also articulate the dwellings. These HOLES ALLOW AN INDEPENDENT ORIENTATIONAND PROTECTED LAYOUT. However, what is clearly visible is the sky over the Cuatro Vientos neighbourhood.5. THE CELL IS A DWELLING WITH A COURTYARD. A front or rear courtyard, but always connected to the day room. THE COURTYARD IS BOTH AN ORCHARD AND A GARDEN THROUGH WHICH THE BUILDING AND THE DWELLINGS ARE VENTILATED. Sunny in winter and cool in summer, the yard offers views to the inside and outside, to the garden and the street, to the light and the shade.6. The clustering of dwellings is achieved through mechanical features; also their individual construction. THE INTERIOR FEATURES INTEGRATED FURNITURE AND VERSATILE SPACES WITH OPENINGS IN FLOORS, CEILINGS AND WALLS THAT ARE CONCEIVED AS A CAR BODYWORK. The exterior is made of sheet metal, which acts as a ventilated façade with its openings concealed by louvres and curved corners.7. A NEAT SET OF SHEET METAL WHOSE COLOURS ARE CHOSEN BY THE USERS. (Description provided by amanncanovasmaruri)
