Description

Teletón children's centres are places for children funded by public television collections. This one in the Paraguayan city of Lambaré was in a state of decay that Gabinete de Arquitectura has managed to reverse. The project demolishes some of the walls of the existing building and proposes the incorporation of a series of pavilions that are strategically inserted, changing the flow system of the complex and radically transforming the character of the place. It is committed to recycling and economy of means. Using ceramic materials from demolitions, a hydrotherapy pavilion is added, resolved with brick structures that form inverted pyramids of great plastic expressiveness. In addition, the new exterior circulations are defined by a large brick vault, forming a transparent lattice that respects the existing trees.  The studio's vernacular sensibility and in-depth structural knowledge have made it possible to turn this complex into a place that elevates the spirit of its users. An example of how architecture can be a symbol of hope and progress.
