Description

This social housing building is part of a housing scheme located on a site on the edge of the village. Following the established urban planning guidelines, the project is configured in two orthogonal linear blocks forming a right angle. Each of the floors accommodates 10 housing units, making a total of 80 dwellings, as required by the competition rules. The project starts from a critical position with the usual practice in this type of social housing, which maximizes private space at the expense of communal spaces. On this occasion, the design is based on intermediate spaces and transitions, generating opportunities for interaction between neighbors, improving climatic behavior and creating a gradation between the public and the private. The pass-through dwellings are organized around a central wet core and two parallel bands, one more public and the other more private, giving users the opportunity to use them in different ways. The building envelope includes sun protection elements such as a lattice that can be colonized by vegetation.
