Description
This project, which occupies the vacant site of an old building that no longer exists, faces the challenge of defining the most historically important square in the city. Situated in front of the imposing façade of the Cathedral, built in the 18th century and next to the palace of Cardinal Belluga, the new façade presents an architraved order of random appearance that breaks with the symmetries of the adjacent historic buildings. The balcony opening, on the same level as the balcony of the Cardinal's Palace, is the only notable opening. The new building manages to establish a dialogue with a contemporary sensibility with the historic surroundings.
