Description
The new Logroño Town Hall, begun in 1976, represents the commitment of the new municipal institutions to democracy. The project is presented as a new fragment of the city, an open public square that creates porosity in the urban fabric through its porticoed spaces. The project connects the new square with a boulevard leading to the riverbank. The project is made up of three pieces, two of them with a square ground plan joined by one of their vertices. These two pieces limit the perimeter of the square in such a way that they include the School of Arts and Crafts, the most outstanding building in the surrounding area, in the urban area. The third piece, located at the junction of the previous ones, houses the auditorium without breaking the continuity of the public space on the ground floor. The project flees from rhetoric and false monumentality to build a place that creates meaning through its urban function.
