Access to the complex is from the northeastern and southeastern ends of the site, through a gently sloping space, formed by the volume of the multi-purpose hall and by a long horizontal volume off which access to the different parts of the program is created.Multi-purpose HallThis, has four spectator stands, one of which is retractable. It is accessed to via the principal entrance hallway at the upper level. The day to day entrance for the athletes is also through the principal entrance hallway, down to the level of the arena. At this lower level there is a long service block containing changing rooms. At the end of this block a training pavilion will be constructed in a later phase.Pool AreaYou access to this area by descending one level from the principal entrance hallway of the complex, to arrive at the changing rooms, toilets and saunas area. This area is connected to the swimming pools through a gallery which articulates the volume of the pool areas with the changing and general service areas of the complex. The public enter via another gallery at the level of the principal entrance hallway.Fitness Rooms and GymsThese have independent access via a vertical circulation core and share changing rooms with the pool facilities. This part of the brief is distributed along two interconnected levels which also have access to the changing rooms.Car ParkingA provisional parking arrangement is in place, to be replaced by a permanent one due to be designed in the second phase of works.Álvaro Siza, November 2006
