Description

This project by Lina Bo Bardi is one of the masterpieces of contemporary architecture in the city of Sao Paulo. A pioneer in the reuse of industrial buildings, the project gives a second life to an old hat factory. The building had already begun to be occupied by residents for leisure activities,  a process of citizen public space reclamation that the project encourages rather than fight  it . Lina Bo Bardi´s project  incorporates two strong concrete volumes linked together by walkways, which give the space a renewed character without forgetting the reference of the factory. The complex is a true open public space where people can enjoy various sports and cultural activities. It is a porous civic space that catalyzes and reflects the civic life of the place.
