Description

Thanks to this project, the tanks of the former Longhua Airport, abandoned for years, have been transformed into a cultural centre focused on art, contributing to the recovery of the area around the Huangpu River as a public space. The project integrates the tanks into an open park connected to the city, whose landscaping – with small hills, changes in elevation and circular shapes – has been designed accordingly to facilitate continuity between the exterior and the different exhibition spaces inside the tanks. The layout of these tanks remains unchanged, except for the inclusion of some volumes in the lower parts to provide a reception area for visitors.
