Description

Situated on a hill overlooking the fragmented landscape of Mollet del Vallès, this example of contemporary architecture subtly and sensitively reveals the remains of a Roman palace. Once the remains had been excavated and the walls exposed, the excavated substrate was reused to build platforms to consolidate the negative of the palace, coinciding with the original floor levels of the building. The volumes are defined by a grid of Corten steel rods, evoking the virtuality of the architecture depicted and the unfinished concept of the landscape, conceived as a process in which nature must participate.
