Description
A solid, elegant annex made it possible to enlarge the spaces of an important collection of contemporary art while helping to seal the reactivation of the city center. The new block adapts to the slope of the site and attaches itself to its edges to form a large public garden, which is pierced by a pedestrian walkway that connects the two urban areas separated by an abrupt drop. The institution wanted to unburden the modernist house that it originally occupied, and then to arrange its extensive art possession in a series of unobstructed galleries, some specially designed for large-format pieces.Organized in four floors, the exhibition spaces are enclosed within opaque stretches of comb wall, while in the additional services and the circulation zones, freestanding pillars let light pass through.
