Description

This seaside hotel features a horizontal design to minimise its impact on the landscape. With a Y-shaped floor plan and staggered profile, all rooms have sea views as they face the coast, and large planters on the balconies provide maximum privacy while maintaining views of the beautiful landscape outside.  The walls of the rooms protect the courtyard from the sea breeze, creating a true indoor oasis. The design of the building focuses on the internal pedestrian circulation, achieved through the layout of the building and the addition of internal gardens that receive sunlight directly overhead. This introverted inner world, where visitors meet other guests, contrasts with the sunny spaces of the private balconies. This microcosm of white concrete and vegetation is an example of how architecture can approach the sea without destroying the landscape. César Manrique himself, a champion of the fight to protect the island’s landscape, worked on the project and designed the outdoor pools, which clearly show the influence of the Jameos del Agua.
